If you spend enough time around marketing folk, you’ll hear the phrase: pain points used often. It’s used a lot for a very good reason. The concept is central to marketing because it illustrates a deep understanding of your potential client, their problems, and why they seek therapy.
What’s a Pain Point?
A pain point is your potential client’s needs or problems that you can provide a solution for. These are the issues that keep them up at night, which you’ll address in your marketing to let them know that you are the right therapist for them.
Ok. But how do I use pain points to fill my caseload?
Here is an excerpt from my book that you might find helpful:
Listen: Listen to what your current clients are saying. Look and see what your ideal client is writing online. Notice what questions keep being asked by people who are similar to the ones you want to work with.
Research: Read articles and blogs about the things that bother and upset your ideal client.
Empathize: Show that you understand your ideal client by the way you write your copy, make your videos, and publish your blog. You want to make sure that your clients see themselves and their pain points in your content.
Use the following questions to begin your pain point journey:
What keeps your ideal client up at night?
What worries your ideal client about starting therapy?
What’s the hardest part of their life?
What might make their life better?
